Poetry Writing

Today we did something a little bit differently for writing.  Miss Sherwood showed us this really interesting picture and we talked about all the different things we could see.  We talked about how to write some interesting poems, and about how they can sometimes seem a little bit weird.  Here are some of the poems we wrote this morning!

Lava in the air
You smell smoke everywhere
In the scene I can see fish
Camels made out of orange dust
Hills in the background
People in the trees
Rivers go round and round
The people see a treasure box
Swirly trees with people
- Loki

Lava in the air

You smell smoke everywhere
Fire in the distance
Fish swim everywhere
There's a boat on fire
- Lawrie

In the sea fish swim

Quick fish, swim faster!
Here comes a whale!
Colours fill the air
An elephant calls to its mates
Volcanoes exploding!
So smoke fills the air
There's also a flood every now and then
No one wants to live there
The fish swim
The elephant runs
The whale dives
Everyone flies in such a rush you cannot see them
- Sophie

Fire in the distance, fire in the air

Elephants walking everywhere
Camels sprinting through smog and dust,
To climb the mountains to reach the clouds
Breathe the air
Smell it fresh
Dream of it there
- Finn

Wow!! Aren't you impressed!  These kids are so creative!
